🛒 Canal+ and PPF prepare Viaplay buyout
Scandinavian streaming giant Viaplay may delist from the stock exchange. French group Canal+ and Czech investment firm PPF are considering a full buyout of the service's shares.
The two companies already control nearly 60% of Viaplay (around 29.3% each) following the major 2024 recapitalization that saved the broadcaster from collapse.
Post-crisis, Viaplay radically overhauled its strategy: it exited the UK market and focused on profitability in Scandinavia, the Netherlands and Poland.
No official comments from the parties yet, but experts see this as a logical next step in restructuring. Going private would allow the new owners to streamline the asset structure faster and complete the business transformation without stock market volatility.
