🔥 Yakut cinema debuts at Filmart for the first time

Yakut filmmaking is stepping onto a new international stage. At Asia's largest film market Filmart in Hong Kong, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has opened its first-ever regional stand.​

The Yakutia Filmmakers Association brought a delegation of leading directors and producers, including Stepan Burnashev and Semyon Amanatov, showcasing a portfolio of over 20 projects.

The global market is being offered a unique mix: from mystical thrillers and horror rooted in northern folklore to socially significant dramas. Particular attention went to the sports biopic Diodorova. Against the Current about a Paralympic champion — last year the film recouped its budget more than eight times over in Russian theaters.

Association head Stepan Burnashev noted that the FilMart debut is not just about sales, but also a chance to showcase the cultural uniqueness of “Sakhawood” and find partners for international co-productions.
